Anyway, a quick snapshot of the last 41 years in my life:
• Right after high school, I attended Highline Community College and earned an A.A. in Police Science.
• I joined the Army National Guard and upon completion of active duty, I tested for and was hired by the Seattle Police Department in October 1972.
• I ended up serving just short of 37 years with the Seattle Police Department and retired on March 30, 2009. Most of my career was spent assigned to the South Precinct. I made it to the rank of Captain and my most rewarding assignment was being the Commander of the South Precinct for 6 years.
• During my time with the Seattle Police Department, I returned to college and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business and Public Administration from the University of Puget Sound.
• I also played for the Seattle Police Badgers Football Team in the Bacon Bowl charity football game for 6 seasons. It was my opportunity to get to play football since I was too small in high school to play for the “mighty Eagles”. It was great fun and competition and was a blast to play in the Kingdome and Tacoma Dome in front of large crowds.
• My main spare time hobby/passion is Tae Kwon Do. I am currently a 3rd Degree Black Belt Instructor. I teach and train at Lee’s Martial Arts on Rainier Av. S.
• I am married to Trish who is an Attorney and Planner. She works for Pierce County. We have two Golden Retreivers who are wonderful girls.
• I have one son Todd from my previous marriage. Todd will be 30 in January and he currently works for Skills Inc. which makes parts for Boeing.
• I had many fond memories and friendships from High School which will always be special to me. I believe that Coach Bob McDonald was very instrumental in my ability to adjust to and handle Basic Training in the Army and the rigors of the Police Academy. As you may recall, Coach McDonald was a tough, no nonsense disciplinarian. While it was difficult to understand in high school, I really came to appreciate him later on.
