Hello Cleveland High School Alumni. My hope is that CHS alumni will share information about themselves and their lives. Certainly family and career updates would be great. I am in hopes that people will also share other personal information.
I am a member of the class of 1968. We had a 41st renunion (yup, 41st, not 40th) this fall. It was so satisfying and enjoyable to visit with people, many of whom I had not seen since the 60's. Wow! It was quite an experience. Everyone stood up and said a bit about themselves. Some pain and heartache, some funny stories, and some inspiring things. Lots of life... I was so glad I went.
As I hear from people I will post their information as a new blog entry in the format in which it is sent to me.
To help you with some ideas for what to write here are some suggestions from an email I sent to people in my graduating class:
Good morning,
I thoroughly enjoyed the 41st reunion. Thanks a lot Gail for taking the lead. I certainly enjoyed visiting with people and I also enjoyed the part where we got up and talked about our lives since high school. I loved listening to that.
A CHS blog? Hmmm... I like that. I'll even do it. How about this? I will maintain it if you send me "stuff". How about if you send things like what we said when stood up and talked about ourselves? Here are some varying questions or writing prompts you might answer to help get you started. I'm hoping you might send me some pictures also. I just created the blog site; it is waiting very patiently but anxiously for information about each of you.
For those of us who are a bit more concrete sequential try these:
1. Right after high school I...
2. Some of my favorite memories of high school are...
3. A teacher I particularly remember is... (because)...
4. I have worked at...
5. My family is...
6. In my spare time I really enjoy...
7. Through the years something that has given me joy is...
8. Through the years something that I have struggled with is...
Are you a bit more random abstract possibly? Try these as examples that might trigger something for you.
1. I just got home from Egypt where I rode a camel near the pyramids.
2. My grandaughter got married.
3. My grandkids make me smile.
4. Today I had fresh tomatoes in a salad; I love the summer.
5. I just got home from the doctor and it was all good news.
6. I have some difficult news; keep me (or someone else) in your prayers.
7. Today I talked to "so and so" who graduated with me. He/she has not been back to Washington in decades. I learned that he/she has been doing...
8. I recently read a book titled...and I loved it.
9. My back hurts.
10. The world sure has changed.
These aren't the only things for us to talk about, they are just suggestions. Feel free to add pretty much anything about yourself you would like.
Again, pictures would be great. Please send some.
Okay you ageing but young looking Eagles, I'm ready to start blogging. I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
