1. Right after high school, I went to Whitman College, transferred to the UW, and graduated in Political Science.
2. Some of my favorite memories of high school are...the SAC, cheerleading, friends.
3. A teacher I particularly remember is... (because)...
4. Out of College, I worked at Legal Services for a year as a paralegal; spent a year in Japan, teaching English and studying Japanese; then got my first job in television as a secretary in Public Affairs at KING TV. I have been a reporter/anchor since 1976.
5. My family: I am re-married to John Norheim, a commercial real estate broker. Between us, we have five daughters. Two of his are in college, one is working as a graphic artist. My oldest is in Japan teaching English, and my youngest daughter is just finishing up her masters degree at USF.
6. In my spare time I really enjoy... gardening and doing environmental restoration work. I volunteer in several closeby parks and open spaces pulling invasive plants, and restoring native vegetation.
7. Through the years something that has given me joy is... kids. my own, and working with low income kids in a scholarship program. for 11 years, i've been profiling these kids who overcome extraordinary obstacles- 75% live below the federal poverty line, and most don;'t have parents. it has been life changing.
8. Through the years something that I have struggled with is... being an overachiever. learning to stop pushing and just be. learning to stop judging, and just appreciate.
Wendy, Thanks for sharing, what a great wedding picture of your growing family.
